This cause has always been very important to me. I lost my teacher in 8th grade and since then I have had 3 relatives and several friends battle this terrible disease.
I wanted to do something to help so I got involved with @americancancersociety . I am participating in my 14th Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk and I have raised over $46,000 so far over the last 13 years π₯³ I couldnβt have done it without my amazing donors and I am so grateful for their generosity! Link in bio if youβd like to donate to my walk this year! π
The point of this challenge is to spread five facts about breast cancer / spread awareness:
πΈ 1 in 8 women in the US will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime
πΈ Men get breast cancer too (estimated 2,620 men diagnosed in the US in 2020)
πΈ There are 3.5 million breast cancer survivors in the US
πΈ approximately 55-65% of women with the BRCA1 gene mutation will develop breast cancer by the age of 70
πΈ approximately 45% of women with a BRCA2 gene mutation will develop breast cancer by the age of 70
Thank you @literarypengwyns for creating this pink stack challenge to spread breast cancer awareness. I am sending positive vibes your way while you kick some breast cancer butt πͺπΌ
PSA: Check yourself regularly, donβt miss a mammmogram, look out for your friends/family & support those currently battling. It is so important to continue spreading awareness & raising money for research so we can stop hearing that someone we love has breast cancer! π
*tagged some friends if anyone wants to participateπ₯°
